He was predeceased by: his daughter Michele Hawkes; his parents, Jonah Rudolph Hawkes and Dorothy Jeanette Hawks; his siblings, William Hawkes and Sandy Stavesky; and his nephew Bobby Hawkes.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Hawkes; his son Michael Hawkes (Tina) of Medina, OH; his grandsons, Ian and Evan Hawkes; and his sisters, Diane Cunningham (Carl) of Sheffield Twp and Paulette Kerpics of Oberlin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
