Lakesha Sharmel Ward Obituary

Lakesha Sharmel Ward 52, of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky passed away unexpectedly on January 29th, 2022. Lakesha was born and raised in Elyria, Ohio. She was an Elyria High School graduate, class of 1987.

Lakesha went on to college and graduated from Lorain County Community College with her Associates in Arts. She then went to Cleveland State University and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts while later pursuing a Masters Degree in Psychology & Criminal Justice. Lakesha loved to spend time with her kids, grand babies, family and friends.

S. She liked to go shopping, travel, and she always loved going to sporting events as well as car shows. She had a great love and appreciation for the arts due to her own creative mind, especially in interior decorating. Lakesha is survived by her children, DeJonna (Mike) Osmolski of Berea, Ohio, Rhayven (Mike) Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio, Darian Thompson of Indianapolis, Indiana and Deion Thompson of Lorain, Ohio.

Her grandchildren, Michael Savage Jr, Ayanah Parker, Jai'Lynn Parker and two on the way. Siblings Mary T. (Michael) Johnson of Columbia SC, Priscilla R. (Gregory) Dewitt, of Conway SC. Her niece Laura (Jarvis) Perkins of Lorain, Ohio.

Nephews Aamir Johnson, Quincy Arnold, Gregory B. Dewitt Jr and Gemar L. Dewitt. Her Aunt, Molly Ward of Washington DC. Her Great Aunt MaeBelle (Jimmy) Bird of Willingboro, NJ.

Her favorite cousins Melissa (TJ) McNeil, David Lucky and Antwyon Johnson, and a host of family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother Margaret Ward, father Willie Canty, brother Leonard Bernard Ward, uncle John Ward, cousins Claudia "Bonnie" Benning and Charise Benning. Her children will be hosting a Celebration of Life at (On The Avenue) 5300 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain OH 44053 on March 19th, 2022.

It will be from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Masks are recommended. Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home will be handling the cremation.
