He is survived by: his wife Vickie Schmidt of Lorain; his children, Kathryn Picha (Brent) of Burbank, CA and Michael Schmidt (Holly) of Vermilion; his stepson Chris Engle (Jennifer) of Elyria; his parents, Edward Schmidt and Margaret Schmidt; his siblings, Janet Green of Vermilion and Tom Schmidt (Kathy) of Vermilion; his grandchildren, Slade Picha, Julia and Evan Engle; his nephew Nicholas Sheridan; and his great-niece Aubreigh Sheridan.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Freedom Nation Motorcycle Club, 11234 Indian Hollow Road, Elyria, 44035.
