He was predeceased by: his parents, Maggie Mae Payne Taylor and George Payne; and his siblings, Georgia Marie Wrice, Rosa Lee Mitchell, George "Tonk" Payne III, Aaron "Herman" Thomas and Ernest Lee Payne.
He is survived by: his children, Maurice "JP" Payne (Angela) of John, Payne Jr., Ashley Branson (James), Hilary Payne, Jasmine Payne, Jontay Lane, D'Ajanae Cruz (Tyler) and Christiaan McLin-Cole; and his siblings, Joe Payne (Gloria), Louis Payne (Audrey), Floyd Payne (Ruth), James Merchant, Renevia Payne and Fannie Mae Payne. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
