He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Higgins and Mary Higgins; his siblings, Thomas Higgins, John Higgins, Anne McKee (Jim) and Mary Modesti (Mike); his son-in-law Steve Dury; and his nephews, Thomas Higgins and Thomas McKee.

He is survived by: his wife Audrey Higgins; his daughters, Anne Dury (Ray Cogdell) and Jennifer Fayer (Chip); his grandchildren, Stephen Dury (Melissa Keyes), Audrey Fayer (Josh Collins) and George Fayer VI; his sister-in-law Marilyn Higgins; his nephew Timothy Higgins (Laurel); his great-niece Casey Higgins; and his goddaughter Mary Lynn Woodyard (Jason).
