He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Herndon and Lois Herndon (Nee Gibson); his stepfather William Sammons; and his brother Tyrone Sammons (Jermaine Howard). He is survived by: his wife Katrina Williams-Herndon; his aunt Catherine Hinson; his sons, Elton and Shelton Mattis; his sister Willa Evans; and his granddaughter Sheleah Mattis. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
