He was predeceased by: his father Ernest Cornwell Sr.; his brother Ernest Cornwell Jr.; his daughter Evet Horton; his mother Alice F. Willis; his sister Mary Cornwell; and his stepfather Andrew Willis.

He is survived by: his children, Clarence Cornwell Jr. of Lorain, Patrick Trebrack of Toledo, Ashleyn Manera of Swanton, OH, Kasey Bennett and Dehila Garza (Tannika) of Detroit, MI; his siblings, David Cornwell (Pam) of Louisville, KY, Minister Charles Cornwell (Doletha) of Lorain, OH, Betty McCall (George) and Dianne Kelson of Lorain, OH; his stepsisters, Anita of Cleveland and Virginia of Tennessee; and his nephew William A. Kelson. He is also survived by Nieces, Nephews, and Grandchildren.
