She was predeceased by: her husband Wesley Houston; and her siblings, Florence Shiflet, Charles Freed and Clifford Freed. She is survived by: her children, Shick of Wakeman, Susan Mitchell of Cleveland, Ann Curry of Akron and Robert Konicek of Norwalk; her stepdaughter Shirley Cellers of Elyria; and her sisters, Myrtle Eddy of LaGrange and Lela Cross of Amherst. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
