He was predeceased by: his parents, Hamer Spears and Madeline Spears (Colliver). He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Spears (Junk); his daughters, Amy Spears and Amanda Zizelman (Eric); his grandchildren, Maya and Evan Zizelman; his siblings-in-law, Carole and Don Neff; his nephew Scott Neff (Amanda); and his great-nieces, Zoe and Cora Neff.
