She was predeceased by: her husband Robert E. Ackerman; her parents, Melvin VanCuren Sr. and Elizabeth Conners; her stepfather Paul Conners; her daughter-in-law Phyllis Ackerman; her grandson Nicholas Ackerman; and her siblings, William Conners, Chuck VanCuren, Melvin VanCuren Jr. and Evie Stark.
She is survived by: her children, Bob Ackerman (Cathy) of Monroeville, Gene Ackerman of Norwalk, Chris Ackerman (Bonnie) of Monroeville and Penny McClaflin (John) of New London. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
