He was predeceased by: his parents, James Robert and Patricia Ellen Richards Sr. (Mount); his grandson Brandon Ogg; and his parents-in-law, Roy A. and Helen M. Howdyshell.
He is survived by: his wife Martha "Kay" Richards (Howdyshell); his children, Scott E. Whalen (Michelle) of Logan, Timothy J. Whalen of Logan, Eric George of Ada, Ohio and Sarah E. Bartlett (Phillip) of Mount Pleasant; his grandchildren, Jessica Tipton (Steven), Emilee, Abriella Whalen, Joshua Ogg (Cynthia), Charley E., Will, Luke Bartlett, Shalen and Brenna George; his great grandchildren, Landon, Cooper, Kinzlee, Ridge Tipton, Kaelyn, Lane Ogg, Bentlee Vaughn, Briella, Orion, Sophia, Gwen, Elizabeth Ogg, Avy and Addy George; and his sister Jody Taulbee (Mark) of Logan, Ohio..
