She was predeceased by: her parents, William Garnes and Olive Garnes (Riegel); her husband Larry Messenger; her sisters, Jill Pipher and Donna McKinney; and her brother-in-law Manuel Nunez.

She is survived by: her siblings, Karen Nunez of Wooster, John Garnes (Debbie) of Wooster, Gary Garnes (Patricia) of Wooster and Linda Garnes of Lakewood. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
