She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Shaw and Hazel Alma Shaw (Stapleton); her husband David Frederick "Fred" Bates; and her grandchildren, David Shaw Bates and Ashley Nicole Bates.
She is survived by: her sons, David Larry Bates (Nanette), James Victor Bates (Cheryl), Michael Frederick Bates, Robert Lee Bates (Dessie) and Randall Shaw Bates (Paula); and her sisters, Ruth Ann Bailey, Marjorie Pannier (David), JoAnn Harris (Chuck), Sandra Boyce and Karen Sadler (Jim). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
