He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Poling and Dorothy Foust Poling. He is survived by: his wife Maria Elizabeth Kappler; his children, Thomas Poling of Michigan, Benjamin Poling of Dayton, John Poling (Missy) of Elida, Aaron Poling (Adena) of Lima and Amy Ingram (Tim) of Lima; his grandchildren, Seth, Jacob, Julia, Tabitha, Tyler (Katrina), Kanyon, Taylor, Emily, Isaac, Isabelle and Brittany; and his siblings, Tim Poling (Linda) of Waynesfield, Linda Mack of Lima, Diane Sprague (Joe) of Lima and Barb Poling (Pete Truesdale) of Lima. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
