He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Birchfield and Nancy Birchfield (Harleson). He is survived by: his children, Luna Birchfield (Sandra) and Raistlin Birchfield; his grandchildren, Penelope and Karliah Birchfield; his sister Nancy Lynn Mumma; and his close friend Melissa Jacobs (Jodi Welker).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family, for his granddaughters. .
