He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Gilbert and Goldie Gilbert (Toland); his wife Joyce Ann Gilbert (Bowsher); and his siblings, Richard, Leonard, Robert Gilbert, Nancy Deubler and Josephine Starkey.

He is survived by: his children, Triceine Asante (Albert), Stanley L. Gilbert (Kathryn), Shirley Donaldson (Terry) and Mashell Ansah Prempeh (Yaw); his grandchildren, Brittanie Evans (Josh), Kimberly Hanson (Jeremy), Steven Burk, Rebecca Burk, Aaron P. Gilbert, Joshua Gilbert, Kaitlyn Gilbert, Cheyenne Gilbert, Charlie Gilbert and Tyler J. Gilbert; his great grandchildren, Jacob Evans, Abigail Evans, Emma Hatfield, Beckett Hanson and Harley Garnett; and his friends, Steve Gilbert, Trisha Risner, Tina Frazier (Mike) and Anthony "Tony" Thomas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
