He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, David Slechter and Karen Volbert Slechter; his wife Mendy Spicer; his granddaughter Payton; his grandfather Volbert; his children, Makayla, Baby Girl', Matthew Slechter, Joseph Slechter and Jessie Chandler; his siblings, Renee Slechter of Lima, Brad Slechter of Delphos and Craig Slechter (Sherri) of Lima; his niece Paige; his nephew Ty; and his great-nieces, Piper, Remi and Reese. He was also cherished by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
