He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Smith and Eldora A. Smith (Humphreys); his brother Kenneth Smith (Wanda); his parents-in-law, Lawrence and Ruth Tribolet; and his brother-in-law Larry Tribolet.

He is survived by: his wife Jeanne E. Smith (Tribolet) of Elida; his children, Laura Smith of Lima and Steve Smith (Julie) of Elida; his grandchildren, Alex Dunham (Ryan) of Fort Myers, FL, Ashley Reed (Casey) of Lima, Chad Smith of Elida and Carly Long (Trent) of Elida; his great grandchildren, Rowan Dunham, Edeline Dunham, Ezrah Dunham, Marlee Long and Baby Reed; his brother Lowell Smith (Carol) of Hicksville; and his sister-in-law Shelbyan Tribolet of Middlepoint. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
