He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl V. Shallenberger and Flossie Shallenberger (Bactell); his wife Marian; and his brothers, Vinton and Kenneth.

He is survived by: his nephew Mark (Cindy) of Cortland; his great-nephews, Brian (Anne) of Ohio, Scott (Bethany) of North Carolina and Kevin (Callie) of Virginia; and his niece Carolyn Albert of Berea.
