He was predeceased by: his parents, Emerson Gillespie and Lucille Miller Jones; and his wife Teresa Carpenter Gillespie. He is survived by: his children, Annette Gillespie (Christine Brooks) of Fernandina Beach, Yvette Stotts (Michelle) and Eddie Gillespie (Jennifer) of Lewisville, Ohio; his siblings, Bernie Miller (Ken) of Woodsfield, Ohio and Frank Gillespie (Bea) of Bellaire, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Zac Gillespie, Ethan Gillespie, Maggie Stotts Gillespie, Cassie Phillips and David Kehl. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
