He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter A. Erford and Effie Erford (Bauhaus); his wife Vera Ruth McCullough; his son Dennis Erford; and his siblings, Robert, Gilbert "Bus", Cletus, Charles Erford, Josita Erford, Sara Erford and Rita VonderEmbse.

He is survived by: his children, Diana Koenig (David) of Continental, Doyle Erford (Lois) of Miller City, Debra Allen (Mark) of Greensboro, NC and Dean Erford (Becky) of Caryville, TN. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
