It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carmella Rakes of Leetonia, Ohio, born in Bishop, Virginia, who passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Salvatore Garzaniti and Mary Sardinell Lowe; her husband Virgil Rakes; her siblings, Rosie Carmen, Nick Garzaniti, Domnick Garzaniti, Frank Garzaniti and Pansy Thacker; her sons-in-law, Roger Edgell, Joe Eberle, Harry Shukait, Chris St. Clair and Brian Hoover; and her grandchildren, Joe Eberle and Patti Rabquer.
She is survived by: her daughters, Toni Townsley (Ron) of Willis, MI, Pat Edgell of Leetonia, Rose Eberle of Ypsilanti, MI, Reva Kugler (Roger) of Salem, Donna St. Clair of Lisbon, Sharon McKenzie (Tim) of Poland and Andrea Fast (Randy) of Salem; and her sister Liz Holt (Mick) of Toledo, OH. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one great grandchild on the way, and many nieces & nephews.
