He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. Spurling and Ruth Spurling; and his sister Carolyn Robinson. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Spurling (Riley); his son Derek Spurling (Tina); his siblings, Peggy Swick, Jerry Spurling (Tammy), Tim Spurling (Robin), Ken Spurling (Rick Robillard) and Jamie Spurling; his grandson Brandon Miller; and his friend Jack Dempsey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Habitat For Humanity.
