Sandy Maholm Obituary
Sandy Maholm, 71 in years, but decades younger in spirit, passed away peacefully in the evening hours of November 14, 2017. A lifelong resident of Lancaster, OH, she was born on April 14, 1946 to Harold “Dave” and Mildred “Mid” Markwood. Sandy graduated from Lancaster High School in 1964 and Ohio University in 1990. It was while working at Anchor Hocking that she met Jim Maholm, whom she later married on September 6, 1968 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. A talented artist, culinary wiz and selfless soul, she excelled not only as a mother and wife, but also as a friend and business woman. Sandy was active in the community her entire life, donating both time and energy to a variety of organizations including: American Cancer Society, Fairfield County Heart Association, United Way of Fairfield County and Lancaster Arts & Civics Club. She was also a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Froebel Club and the Garret Players. After 15 years, she retired from the Fairfield Medical Center, where she contributed to its growth and success as the FMC Foundation Manager. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Sandy loved watching movies, playing cards and sharing in the joys of the Christmas season.
Sandy is survived by her sons, James E. (Tiffany) Maholm Jr.; John Maholm; daughter, Stacey M. (Dick) Johnson; grandchildren, Madison, Bailey, Hayden, James III, and Maximilian Maholm; sister, Cathy Glenn; and several nieces and nephews.
Sandy is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 105 E. Mulberry St., Lancaster, OH. Burial will take place following the service at Floral Hills Memorial Garden, Lancaster, OH. Memorials can be made in Sandy's name to the Fairfield Medical Center Foundation, 401 N.
