He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Darst and Edna Darst (Johnston); his son Gregory D. Darst; and his brothers, Charles and Leland Darst.
He is survived by: his wife Johanne B. Darst (Spires); his children, J. Steve Sheppard (Vikki) of New Braunfels, TX, Judith Wolfe of Jacksonville, FL, Christine Smith (Paul) of Galena, OH, J. Bradley Sheppard (Val) of Richwood, OH and Gwen Jarick (Stefan) of Rio Verde, AZ; his grandchildren, Monica, Brooke, Anthony, Angela, Cassandra, Carlos, Jessica, Jennifer, Robert, Ben, Amy, Ryan, Natasha, Greg Jr. and Darletta; and his pet Annie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
