He was predeceased by: his parent Clayton Shumaker; his brothers, Ralph Shumaker, Lloyd Shumaker, Kenneth Shumaker and Paul Shumaker (Kay); and his son-in-law James Meherg.

He is survived by: his parent Sarah Shumaker (Kohler); his spouse Regina A. Schmelzer; his sister Louise Joan Kraft (Robert); and also, Gerri Agin (Sam), Sharon Meherg, Darrell Shumaker (Cheryl), Michael Shumaker (Mary), Gregg Shumaker, Alan Shumaker (Lori) and Stephen Shumaker (Karla). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many many nieces and nephews.
