He was predeceased by: his grandson Cole Ellwood Van Wey; and his brother William Ellwood. He is survived by: his brothers, Franklin and Thomas; his children, Brock Ellwood, Kip Ellwood, Ann Ellwood Van Wey and Colin; his grandchildren, Sarah, Carter, Cooper and Colin; his brother Frank Ellwood; his sister-in-law Pat Ellwood (Angel); his brother Tom Ellwood; his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Ellwood (Potschner) and Dorothy Pettibone (Huff); his spouse Barbara; and also, Maggie, Sarah, Carter and Cooper. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his many friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory can be made to FairHoPe Hospice, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
