He was predeceased by: his parents, James Whisman and Dorothy Whisman (Smith); and his granddaughter Sydni Brooke. He is survived by: his wife Naomi M. Whisman; his sons, Tim Holcomb, James Whisman (Stephanie) and Andy Whisman (Jaime); his grandchildren, Stephen Holcomb, Brandon Holcomb, Owen Holcomb, Dalton James Whisman, Savanna Jo Whisman, Kelsea Judith Whisman and Coyt Alexander Whisman; and his siblings, Alice Weaver, Gerald "Gary" Whisman and Christina Thompson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
