Terry Nungesser wrote a sympathy message

“John was a very much appreciated and admired friend of our LHS Class of 1966. I knew John starting back in the 4th grade at St. Mary's School. Several of us transferred to the LHS where John excelled as a very good Guard on that "Final-Four" Basketball team where he (Mike as some called him) added an exciting dynamic to that celebrated Basketball team. He was a gentleman and a friend to many including myself. I will miss John.”
