He was predeceased by: his parent John L.; his former wives, Margery Ferguson Ward and Lillian Adams Ward; his siblings, John Ward and Ida Engberg; and his son-in-law James Harral.
He is survived by: his parent Ola DeRhodes Ward; his children, James Ward (Patti) of Stow and Jean Harral of Circleville; and his stepchildren, Kay Pashby (Ron) of Raleigh, NC, Owen "Buck" Adams (Cassie) of Hebron and Mike Adams (Kathy) of Mesa, AZ. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
