He was predeceased by: his wife Lisa Hlava; his parents, Robert Hlava and Anita Hlava; his sister Jonelle Cillo; and his stepchildren, Justin Connor, Amanda Paganelli and Amber Connor.

He is survived by: his siblings, Steven Hlava (Pala), Matt Hlava (Juli) and Lorin Szalai (Dennis); his nieces and nephews, Brianna Hlava (Connor Johnson), Evan Hlava, Dennis Szalai (Gabi) and Kathryn Szalai; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Essa, Easton and Deacon Szalai; his stepdaughter Shannon Sweeney; and his stepgranddaughter Lola Connor.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Busch Funeral Home (163 Avon Belden Rd, Avon Lake, OH 44012). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
