He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Ellis and Elizabeth Ellis. He is survived by: his wife Marcia; his children, Aubrey Halm (Jared) and Wesley; his stepson Jake Holmes; his sister Sheree Robinson (Lowry); his grandchildren, Ava Christopher, Brevin Strausbaugh and Macy Strausbaugh; and his nieces, Whitnie Robinson and Courtnie Peacock.
