He was predeceased by: his parents, James W McElvain and Mary A McElvain; his wife Mary E. McElvain; his son Larry Stewart; his siblings, James McElvain and Mary Kathleen Smith (Chuck); and his siblings-in-law, John Gillian, Betty Gray and Carol R. McElvain.
He is survived by: his son Tony Tarter (Miki); his brothers, Donald Patrick McElvain (Kathy), Dennis Wesley McElvain and Richard Irving McElvain; his grandchildren, Brittani Tarter (Chris), Brooklyn McQueen (Duncan), Anthony and Chase Tarter; his nephew Chris Miller (Kelly); his niece Taylor M Fisher; and his parents-in-law, Bill Gillian, Larry Gillian, Mike Gillian (Paula) and Debbie Miller (Dave). He is also survived by many other nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice Foundation or Alzheimer's Association.
