He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Gerlach and Alice P. Gerlach (Hart); and his nephew William Van Horn. He is survived by: his former wife Kathleen Sheehan; his daughter Alice V. Gerlach of New York City; his sister Joy Van Horn (Mark) of Kenton; his niece Amanda; and his nephew Andrew Van Horn.
