January 13, 1938 - April 5, 2018 Frederick "Fred""Sam" Junior Cessna Obituary Frederick "Fred" Sam" Junior Cessna, 80, of Kansas, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. He was born on January 13, 1938, in Kansas to Frederick Clayton and Troas (Boyd) Cessna. He married Janyce "Kaye" (Kissling) Cessna on August 2, 1959, at Cannan United Methodist Church in Kansas, and she preceded him in death on January 25, 2005. He is survived by two sons, Dale Cessna, of Kansas, and Darl (Brandy) Cessna, also of Kansas; three grandchildren, Kyle Andrew (Amber) Cessna, of Fostoria, Aaron Frederick Cessna, of Kansas, and Kasey Ray Cessna, of Fostoria; four great-grandchildren, Nate, Xander, Aurora, and Oliver; and one brother, Carl "Skip"(Mary Alice) Cessna, of Tiffin. He was precede in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Emily Alaine Cessna, a daughter-in-law, Maryann Cessna, two brothers, Don and Lloyd Cessna, and one sister, Jane M. Roessler. Always in his blood, he was passionate about Sprint Cars and was an owner of a Sprint Car from 1963-1974, having raced in most of local Ohio. He continued to follow and help his sons who dirt track raced locally. Fred was a millwright for Basic Refractory's in Maple Gove, retiring in 1992, and went back to work two more times as a private contractor. He was vice president of the union at Basic for a number of years. In his early years he was a volunteer fireman in Kansas as well as helping with the plowing of snow for the township in the winter. In his leisure he enjoyed fishing and wood working, and was a Boy Scout leader for Troup 458. Fred was always there to help whenever needed. He was passionate about whatever was placed in front of him and he never left anything undone. Visitation will be held from 10 am-1 pm on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at MANN-HARE-HOENING FUNERAL HOME, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 1 pm, Pastor Abe Cramer presiding. Burial will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia.
