He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Surkala and Edith Surkala (Vlach); his siblings, Barbara (Dave Bailey) and Dan; and his sisters-in-law, Ellen and Joyce.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Jo Springer; his brother Ken; his sister-in-law Darcy; his nieces, Shari (Richard), Lisa Carson (Jeff), Lori Steen and Jennifer Purcell (Maike); and his nephew James Maylish (Tammy). He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors (49 W Jefferson St, Jefferson, OH 44047). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Fleming Billman Funeral Home (49 W Jefferson St, Jefferson, OH 44047). A committal service was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Lenox Center Cemetery.
