He is survived by: his children, Teri Johnson, Monty Grooms (Elana) and James Grooms; his daughter-in-law Penny Grooms; his grandchild Kyle Bennett; his great grandchildren, Bo Bennett and Aiden Bennett; and his siblings, Wayne Grooms, Ronnie Grooms, Beverly Grooms and Corrina Grooms. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
