He was predeceased by: his parents, James Elmer Ault Sr. and Ethel Luvina Monahan Ault; his wife Sue Ellen Stillion Ault; his son James T. "Jamie" Ault Sr.; and his brothers, Gary and Tom Ault.

He is survived by: his daughter Lois L. Ault of Bethesda; and his sisters, Mary Lou Thomas, Judith Hicks and Donna Lee Hupp. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
