He is survived by: his wife Tanya Murphy Brooks of Jacksonville; his mother Bernadine Stansberry Brooks of Glouster; his sons, David J. Brooks (Wendy) of Logan and Dylan J. Brooks of Jacksonville; his stepsons, Jonathan Smathers, Joshua Smathers and Dakota Smathers; his daughters, Susan Guthrie (Dan) of Glouster, Sondra Brooks (Katie) of Glouster and Sabrina Brooks of Jacksonville; his stepdaughter Tanaya Smathers; his grandchildren, Brianna Brooks, Hayley Brooks, Katelyn Brooks, Dustin Brooks, Dalton Brooks, Adrianna Bolin, Devan Brooks, Dallas Brooks, Adriana Brooks, Tyler Brooks, Aria Russell and Amelia Russell; his great grandchild Maci Jo Brooks; and his siblings, Elijah Brooks (Diane), Daniel Brooks (Karen), Ezekiel Brooks (Jane), Sam Brooks and Martha Jones (Joe). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
