He was predeceased by : his parents, John Jacob and Freda Ambos (Allenbaugh); his wife Della Eileen Ambos (Shively); his daughter Cheryl Minnich; his daughter-in-law Teresa Ambos; and his siblings, Lucille Harris, Kathryn Cowan, Patricia Rickert, Robert Ambos, Darrell D. Ambos, Virgil Ambos and Robert L. Ambos.
He is survived by : his children, Rick Ambos (Nancy), Vickie Eakins (Steve), Darrell Ambos and Jackie Cornwell (Scott); his son-in-law Steve Minnich; and his stepchildren, Deana Claypool, Robert Farley (Connie), Lan Farley (Mary), Fred Farley (Denise), Melanie Brant (Jim) and Valerie Donahoe. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He worked at Airstream from March of 1958 until February of 2020; during his years of employment he spent time in manufacturing, repairs, and lastly giving tours of the plant before Covid forced his retirement.
