It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John William Artis of Ironton, Ohio, who passed away on February 12, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John H. Artis and Helen Trumbo Artis; and his sisters, Kay Smith and Carol Spining. He is survived by: his significant other Glenna Cellar; his daughters, Jenny Alverson (Adrian) of Nashville and Julie Artis of Chicago, Illinois; his stepchildren, Charles Cellar of St. Peters and Amy Burt of Calpine, California; and his grandchildren, Max Alverson, Lena Alverson, Owen Miller, Sophie Miller, Nicolas Cellar, Grant Cellar and Maggie Burt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Community Hospice of Ashland.
