She was predeceased by: her parents, Alex Markins and Fannie Morrison Markins; her husband David Henry; her son Derek; and her siblings, David of Ironton, Ohio., Rose Marie of Ironton, Ohio. and Michael Markins of Ironton, Ohio..

She is survived by: her son Kevin of Ironton; her grandchildren, Brianna McKelvey (Killian) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kyle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Andrew of Ashland, Kentucky and Adrianna Poplin of Ashland, Kentucky.; and her great grandchildren, Cruz and Capri McKelvey.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton, Ohio.

“I am so sorry to hear that my old friend has passed. I was a junior in high school when we became friends and I babysat Kevin and Derek really often. Edna Kopacz. introduced us. Edna was Joann’s sister-in-law back, then Va Joanne even loaned me her little car to take my drivers exam because it would be easier to parallel park. Joanne was a really sweet and kind person. May she rest in peace”
