He was predeceased by: his father Lewis Pemberton; his siblings, Shirley Pemberton, William Pemberton, Frank Pemberton, Inez Allen, Mabel Stowers, Viola Neal, Marie Steed, Alma Wilds, Gladys Neal and Loretta Cox; and his siblings-in-law, Emery Payton, William Payton, Robert Payton, Donna Knipp and Martha Sites.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Pemberton (Payton); his son John Paul Pemberton (Kim); his grandchildren, John Paul II Pemberton (Emily) and Leann Henderson; and his great grandchildren, Kaegan Henderson, Arabella Henderson, Xavier Henderson and Charlotte Pemberton. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
