He was predeceased by: his parents, George A. Bensinger and Lucy Bensinger (Yeager); his brother Roy Bensinger; and his great grandchild Baker Scott. He is survived by: his significant other Laverne Bensinger (Sturgill); his daughters, Linda Philabaun (Doug) of Ironton and Teresa Scott (Doug) of Chesapeake; his grandchildren, Alisa McCray (Doug) of Hilton Head, SC, Jason Philabaun (Lindsay) of Hurricane, WV, Andrew Philabaun (Marisa) of Lewis Center, OH, Brandon Scott (Ashley) of Milton, WV and Sean Scott (McKenna) of Proctorville, OH; and his great grandchildren, Evan Philabaun, Preston McCray, Caitlin McCray and Hayes Philabaun.
