He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Sassaman and Velma Sassaman; his wife Susan Hirschburg Sassaman; his son Scott Allan Sassaman; his grandson Robert Jude "RJ" Sochia III; and his sister Janet Collins.
He is survived by: his children, Brian (Olga), Steven, Mark Sassaman and Heidi Sochia (Robert); his siblings, Richard Sassaman and Jane Sides (Chuck); his grandchildren, Ivan, Charles, Abigail and Jesse; and his friends, Don and Carolyn Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Spina Bifida Association of Greater Dayton or the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
