He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Charles and Lillian Clayton; his former wife Berti Milikich; his daughter Kimberley Markasky; and his siblings, Charles Robert, May, Louise and Ann.

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl M. Nolan; his children, John E. Clayton (Nancy) of Bowling Green, KY and Lin Hernandez (Rick) of Hubbard; and his stepchildren, Robert J. Leach (Carrie) of Sarasota, FL, Joseph M. Cornell (Shannon) of Liberty, Lisa M. Saindon (Bill) of New Hampshire, Lorinda L. Nespeca (Joe) of Cape Coral, FL and Lynette D. Hardman of Hubbard. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
