He was predeceased by: his former wife Grace; his son Robert Bartley; and his parents, Willard Gates and Bessie Gates. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Gates; his children, Douglas Gates (Judy), Cassie Angle (Drew) and Justin Gates (Jennifer); his stepsons, Terry Henderson (Dee) and Greg Henderson (Missy); his grandchildren, Shalene Johnson (Josh), Mason Gates Johnathan O'Brien (Nicole), Brant O'Brien (Jennifer), Emily Dickinson (Kyle), Emma Gates and Adam Gates; and his stepgrandchildren, Carly Westfall, Cayley Henderson, Gage Henderson, Ariel Henderson and Marissa Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Give Kids the World Village.
