He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Creech and Cord Deaton; and his siblings, Betty Amburgy and Darrell Deaton. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis; his sons, James Cord Deaton (Elaine) and Joseph Preston Deaton (Tammy); his grandchildren, Michael (Heather), Lauren Dzierwa (David), Zachary and Jacob Deaton; his great grandchildren, Evan, Abigail Dzierwa, Olivia and Grayson Deaton; and his sister Anita Oeder of Lebanon, OH..
