He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Estel and Anna Hanes (Pieratt); and his siblings, Raymond Hanes, Maxine Powell, Myrte Slusher, Geneva Dougherty, Willie Hanes, Jr. and Evelyn Ellenburg.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Hanes (Lipps); his children, Theresa Small (Jim) of Franklin, John Hanes of Beaver, Terry Hanes (Penny) of Hillsboro, Everett Hurst (Tina) of Middletown, Kim Bateman (Dale) of Florida, Lisa Chalk (Keith) of Fairfield and Christopher Burden of Hillsboro; and his sisters, Linda Carpenter of Kentucky and Donna Grau of West Chester. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren.
