He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. Tener Sr. and Blanche Tener (Sellman); his wife Linda Paulette Tener; his daughter Lisa Hoskins; his brothers, Richard "Dick" Tener, Donald "Boss" Tener, John Tener and Edward "Eddie" Tener; his nephews, Russell "Rusty" Tener, Robbie Tener and Christopher Cooper; and his niece Rebecca "Becky" Crouse.
He is survived by: his daughter Linda Hampton (Brian) of Pricetown; his grandchildren, Andy Hoskins of Goshen, Brian Hampton Jr. of Pricetown and Lindsay Hampton of Pricetown; his great grandchildren, Skyler Hoskins of Leesburg and Landyn Hoskins of Leesburg; and his sister Carolyn Burkard of Hillsboro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
